Global steel demand continues to grow in the context ofslowing economic growth
The World Steel Association today released the results of theshort-term steel demand forecast for the April 2019 edition. It is predictedthat global steel demand will reach 1.735 billion tons in 2019, an increase of1.3% year-on-year. In 2020, steel demand is expected to grow by 1.0% to 1.752billion tons.
In his comments on the predictions, Mr. Arremitti, Chairmanof the World Steel Association Market Research Committee, said: "In 2019and 2020, global steel demand is expected to continue to grow, but growth willdecline as the global economy slows. Trade Environmental uncertainty andfinancial market volatility have not weakened, or will bring downside risks tocurrent forecasts."
