In March 2019, the global crude steel output of 64 countries included in the World Steel Association statistics was 155 million tons, up 4.9% year-on-year.
In the first quarter of 2019, global crude steel productionwas 444.1 million tons, up 4.5% year-on-year. Crude steel production in thefirst quarter of Asia was 312.9 million tons, up 7.0% year-on-year. Crude steelproduction in the first quarter of the EU was 42.3 million tons, down 2.0%year-on-year. In the first quarter of North America, crude steel production was30.7 million tons, up 4.0% year-on-year.
China's crude steel output in March 2019 was 80.3 milliontons, up 10.0% year-on-year. India's crude steel output in March was 9.4million tons, down 1.0% year-on-year. Japan's crude steel output in March was9.1 million tons, unchanged from the same period of last year. South Korea'scrude steel output in March was 6.3 million tons, up 2.8% year-on-year.
