South Korean rebar imports soared to 85,300 tons in July

In July, South Korea's rebar imports were about 85,300 tons, up 298.9% year-on-year and 31.5% quarter-on-quarter. From January to July, South Korea's rebar imports were about 531,700 tons, a year-on-year increase of 53.2%.

In July, South Korea imported 37,900 tons of rebar fromChina, an increase of 41.8% from the previous month and an increase of 441.2%from the same period last year. Since January this year, South Korea’s importsof rebar from China have continued to remain above 40,000 tons per month, andsince June, imports have been around 40,000 tons or less. As of the end ofJuly, South Korea imported 334,100 tons of rebar from China, an increase of111.8% year-on-year; imported rebar from Japan was 128,200 tons, down 11.2%year-on-year.

 

In July, the average import price of Korean rebar wasUS$528/ton, down by US$18/ton from the previous month.
