The price of iron ore in Pilbara, Australia is currentlyclose to $125 per ton. Although it is difficult to reach the price of $185 perton during the 2011 mining boom, the current price is close to the historicalhigh if calculated in Australian dollars.

 

The exchange rate of the Australian dollar against the USdollar was one to one in 2011. Since the Australian dollar has depreciatedsharply, if it is denominated in Australian dollars, the current price of ironore is close to 180 Australian dollars per ton, just a step away from the 2011high.
