According to the October Energy Review (October 2018)released by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), US coal productionin January-September 2018 was 564 million short tons (the same units are thesame), a year-on-year decrease of 16.453 million tons. Decreased by 2.8%. FromJanuary to August, US coal exports were 77.679 million tons, an increase of17.827 million tons, an increase of 29.8%.
